Oragnic orange bubbles float against a light grey background.

Flare is a video installation translates personal medical records into visuals that express the temporal and somatic experience of chronic illness flare ups.

The work explores how subjective bodily experience can be translated into aesthetic form. For me, flare ups have always felt like water: the sensation of being submerged, details muffled, vision distorted, movement slowed.

Water's ephemeral, time-resistant, and shape-shifting properties mirrors the instability of chronic illness, making what usually goes unseen visible.
