Flare
media artist
Flare is a video installation that translates personal medical records into an audiovisual experience of a chronic illness flare up.
The work explores how subjective bodily experience can be turned into data and then art. For me, flare ups have always felt like water: the sensation of being submerged, details muffled, vision distorted, movement slowed.
Water's ephemeral, time-resistant, and shape-shifting properties mirrors the instability of chronic illness, making what usually goes unseen visible.
